Landscape and Amenity
The DEHLG’s draft Landscape Character Assessment Guidelines of 2000 required all Local Authorities to carry out a Landscape Character Assessment of their operational area. Louth county council did this in 2002. Some areas of the county have been identified as (non-statutory) Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and others as Areas of High Landscape Quality. There are also many scenic routs and viewpoints, all of which are listed in the County Development Plan.
